Sunday 22nd May.

What an amazing day! First of all a massive thank you to all the volunteers, community members and community groups who made the day such a success. It was incredible to see so many people come together to enjoy the fun.

The day started with a bit of a worry, namely the weather. However we soon reverted to plan b and moved the activities indoors. To be fair to the brilliant staff they had it planned perfectly and we only actually lost two events, the water slide and the stocks (think I dodged a bullet there).

The inflatables proved to be very popular as did the wax hand making. Infact all of the stands commented on how busy they were.

The afternoon was not due to start until 1.00pm but we had people at the door just after 12. In total over 800 people came through the doors to sample a wide variety of fun and games including; rugby rider, bungee run, soft play, bouncy castle, stage makeup, wax hands, sand in a bottle, face painting. In addition partners from Edmundstown, Capel Farm and Tonyrefail Meithrin all had stalls selling a variety of sweets, drinks and cakes.

It was great to have South Wales Police and Gilfach Goch Fire Service with us. The children seemed to really enjoy looking over the vehicles they brought along.

The younger children had a real treat when our special guests turned up - Peppa Pig, Dora the Explora and Fireman Sam all made sure the afternoon went with a bang.

Loads of photographs are available on our flickr site.

In closing can I say a huge thank you to our development workers Karen and Amy who worked tirelessly not only on day but also in the weeks prior planning and preparing for the event. You are stars ladies well done!
